My daughter was the same until I heard about the book "The Good Sleep Guide" by Angela Henderson, I now swear by it! You have to be able to put up with a bit of crying for a couple of nights and the best thing to do is putting your child down to sleep whilst they are still awake as this teaches them to get themselves back to sleep if they wake in the middle of the night. My daughter now sleeps peacefully in her own cot from 7.30pm to 7.00am next morning

this is a very common problem with younge children they often what to sleep in their parents beds as securaty so maybe you should put a picture of you beside her bed and give her something to cuddle with you smell on it like a blanket or jumper.it may take some time but it is all worth it

I let my son sleep in bed with us until he was 20 months old and we are finally breaking him of that habit. I started by having him sleep on the couch so he was in the same room with us when he went to sleep. He was successful with this right away. After a month or two of this we have moved him into his own room. He still gets up in the middle of the night and wants to sleep with us but we just put him back in his own bed. It's going to be a hard road but in the end it's worth it. Good luck!!!!!

Try using illuminous stars - you can stick them on the ceiling above her cot. They will absorb light, and then when you switch the light out, they'll glow above her head. This may absorb her and distract her until she falls asleep.
Also, if there's a particular cuddly toy she loves - especially an old tatty one, make sure she has that with her.
Another thing that may work is something of yours - a nightshirt or t-shirt - something that smells like you. I used to sometimes take off the jumper I was wearing and leave that with my son to go to sleep with.
Good luck : )
