Please help I have 4 boys, the eldest is 10 in November. We live in a busy residential area with some open green spaces near. I am under increasing pressure from my son to let him play on the streets and fields with his friends. At the moment he is only allowed to play in our garden or at his friends houses.Am I being over protective? What do people think is the right age for my son to be allowed this extra freedom?

in this day and age no one wans to let their kids out of their sight but i suppose one day you have to, i think for a 10 year old its not too bad. Maybe you should trust your boy to play out with his mates but lay down the law, explain that he musn`t go too far and should always stay with his mates, maybe you could arrange that he comes home every hour to check in or maybe if he has a mobile he could text and fone you to let you know hes safe.

Hope this helps
