A female reader, SassySarah +, writes (4 October 2006):

try getting some one to sit with her in one room while you walk out stand out side the door for about 5 min then walk back in and make a fuss of her repeat but stay there for 10 min then make a fuss

dont do it all day but as often through the week as you can. each time staying out of the room for 5 min longer

if you can get half an hour try goin to the shops and buying her a bit of fruit or sweet.

you need to make her reaslise your always comming back but you need to leave for a while first

she will get used to it one day

fallenman agony auntinsecurity in young children is very common, given the young age of your daughter I would suggest that she will grow out of this depenancy provided she is given an appropriate amount of tender loving care and security.
