My 3 month old hasnt eaten but maybe 6-10 ounces today. SHe normally eats around 30-40 oz. per day. SHe is crying and acting like she is hungry (rooting) but she just sits there with the bottle in her mouth.

Any ideas?

abbeymom agony auntI agree with Serinity, she could be gassy. The baby massage will help. What type of bottle is she using? Sometimes the nipple and air flow and how much milk comes out has an affect. Playtex drop in liner bottles are great because it reduces the amount of airflow baby gets while nursing, thus cutting back on gas.

Babies as young as your little sweetie have also been known to teeth. My son cut his first tooth at three months. When he teethed he didn't want to eat but of course was still hungry.

Just make sure she is getting liquids, isn't losing any rapid weight and is sleeping well. It wouldn't hurt to take her to a health unit nurse just for a check up and to ease your concerns.

Let us know how things go.

Wish you well...

Serinity agony auntAre her bowel movements regular? She could be constipated or gassy, I would keep an eye on that. Try rubbing her belly gently in small clockwise circles, this helps push the air through her intestines. I would give it a day or two, if she continues the behavior I would take her to the doctor. Good luck!
