i recently asked a question on how to potty train a nearly 3 year old....things were bad when i started but now...sad to say things are even worse.

she wont tell me when she needs it, she just goes there and then in her pants...she screams when i try to put her on the potty... i was told that it would probably take me about three weeks to potty train, but its past that and im at my wits end.

i thought i would save some money on nappies but im buying more and more knickers (pants) for her...as all her others are always in the washing machine.

can someone please help as im thinking of just giving up and starting to think i will be changing nappies when my daughter is a teen.

please help, any advice will be welcomed.

i just cant handle this.

My girlfriend and I had same problem with our daughter.

The important thing is not to punish your her. Talk to her about it in a "matter of fact way". The more pressure you put on her, the more frightened she will become.

Keep her in nappies for night time only and knickers for daytime.

Instead of the potty, why not try encouraging her to use the toilet?

Offer treats for each time she uses it. And praise her.

It takes each child different lengths of time to adapt and at different ages, so don't worry about that.

It will just "click" in her mind and she'll use the toilet automatically.

please just have patience and relax. dont make it a big deal, she will go when you are both relaxed about it. you can go potty shopping with her so that she can choose the one she likes and just keep encouraging her. give her praises even if she doesnt go and remind her that she is your little girl. if you are very worried and there are other issues with her then please consult your gp. i wish you well
